My [firm, school, SIS, etc] wants strategic planning. Now what?

Strategic planning is used by a variety of entities. Librarians and other information professionals are often asked to participate in strategic planning by their employers, AALL Chapters and SIS's, local groups, and others. Unfortunately, teaching the process of strategic planning is not as common as the requests for participation, leaving individuals to try to figure out what they need to do. It is time to embrace strategic planning before the request comes so that you can stand out as a leader in the process and help prove your worth and that of your library to your organization. A session should cover the basics of strategic planning and provide documentation that librarians can take away to use when the request comes.
