Revisiting Copyright and Fair Use in a Technological Era

Much as authors and publishers have taken advantage of technology to decrease costs, reach new audiences, and develop new delivery mechanisms, libraries and users should keep abreast of technology and explore how it might be deployed to expand or enhance fair uses. This program would discuss possible new paths for libraries (e.g., digitize and lend) to meet the needs of their users while maintaining the balance of interests described by the Copyright Clause.
