The Maryland "Jew Bill" of 1826

After prolonged debate Maryland became one of the last states in which Jews had civil rights. The debate in many ways can be seen as a prequel to future debates over civil rights which are still taking place. This program could serve as the "local history" program for the Legal History and Rare Book SIS, and might also be of interest to the Jewish Librarians Caucus and the Social Responsibities SIS.
