Let's get real: Not every workplace is full of supportive mentors just waiting to guide your career. Many law librarians have had at least one position with an employer was unprofessional, unconcerned about their employee's professional growth, and/or unable or unwilling to have a positive relationship with their employees. Unfortunately, there are times when those law librarians have to "grin and bear it" for various reasons, financial and otherwise. This session is for those law librarians.
This session will provide practical "survival" strategies for successfully navigating a "less-than-ideal" workplace. Attendees will learn how to avoid or diffuse conflict with those in power, how to "work around" difficult co-workers, and when to make a professional move.
